Thierry Henry Blasts Liverpool Player After Champions League Final Defeat

Thierry Henry has told Mo Salah ‘don’t talk’ before a final after Liverpool suffered another Champions League final defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on Saturday, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (28/05/22 at 10:35 pm).

Four years ago in the Champions League final, Salah left the pitch in tears after injuring his shoulder in the first half of Liverpool’s showdown with Real Madrid.

When both teams qualified for this season’s final, the Egypt star made it clear that he wanted ‘revenge’ for that nightmare evening in Kyiv.

Well, Salah suffered another night to forget against the now-14 time European champions, this time in Paris, with Salah playing the entire game, but failing to get past the Belgian wall in Thibaut Courtois.

And, after the game, Henry praised Madrid for their efforts and blasted Salah for his comments in the lead up to the match.

“We have said it so many times, ‘it’s about putting the ball into the back of the net’,” said Henry. “They have one on target and they score.

“Liverpool had a lot. But they faced Thibaut Courtois. Remember what I said in the semi-final, people don’t give him the credit he deserves.

“He’s one of the best keepers in the world and better than Ederson. And he’s shown it tonight.

“I always say something, don’t talk before a final. Beat Real Madrid, then talk and say ‘it was revenge and all of that’. When you talk before a final, you have to win it.”

It’s simple, the Madrid fans will now use Salah’s comments before the game in a way to throw it straight back in his face.

But, in truth, it’s refreshing that players are so honest about such situations rather than the normal PR rubbish they talk about.

Everyone is aware that the respect is there between the two sides and they are incredible teams.

Rather than hear that being repeated in more than one way from both sides, Salah was just honest in saying he wanted ‘revenge’, and whilst it didn’t happen, he has to deal with any stick that comes his way now.
