The Most Popular Sneakers To Buy (2022)

We all hoped that 2022 would be the year that we would emerge from the doldrums. To say the least, the last two years have been a roller coaster, and based on all of the headlines that flood our news feeds on a daily basis, there is still plenty of sorrow to go around—and much to gripe about. Where is the ray of hope at the end of this bleak, depressing tunnel? The top sneakers of 2022 are here to provide a gleam.

Yes, the year 2022 has only just begun, but sneaker makers have already released or announced models that will undoubtedly brighten up a shoe rack—and hopefully your mood as well. You don’t have to be a full-fledged sneakerhead to appreciate the high-quality design and sensation that a new pair of kicks may provide. Because the best sneakers have a way of spreading joy, we could all use a lot of that in these uncertain times.

Of course, the list below is constantly evolving, and we’ll be adding to it as the year unfolds, but for now, have a look at what’s available, all of which will, we promise, put a spring in your step.

Air Force 1 Sneaker Created by Virgil Abloh

LOUIS VUITTON X NIKE

Virgil Abloh will always have a special position in the fashion world. Louis Vuitton men’s designer and artistic director, who died in late 2021, introduced edge to luxury clothes and enhanced streetwear. And, in celebration of his legacy, LV published one of his final creations, a Nike Air Force 1 made of calf leather with LV’s Monogram and Damier patterns, posthumously.

Two hundred pairs were sold exclusively at a Sotheby’s auction, with a portion of the revenues going to The Virgil Abloh “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, which helps students of Black, African American, or African origin further their studies.

It’s best to answer the phone promptly when Drake calls. The musician and Nike unveiled the NOCTA x Hot Step Air Terra sneaker in late January, which immediately sold out. At a retail price of $150, those who were able to get their hands on them were treated to a retro-inspired design with perforations across the upper and chrome accents on the tongue and toebox. It’s now worth ten times as much at resale. If that price is too high for you, don’t worry: the rapper teased a future black colorway on Instagram. The release date has yet to be announced, but you’ll want to be ready when it does.

The date of release is set on January 27, 2022.
