Sadio Mané’s jersey number at Bayern Munich has been made public after he moved there for £35.1 million.
The 30-year-old attacker will wear the No. 17 jersey in the upcoming season. It was earlier rumoured that the Senegal ace would favour his preferred No. 10 jersey, which he wore at his previous clubs, Southampton and Liverpool.
The reports were further fueled by Leroy Sane’s father, Souleymane Sane, who hinted that his son would be willing to give up his No. 10 jersey for Sadio Mane.
But it looks like Mane chose the No. 17 jersey out of a bunch of free jerseys.
Sadio Mané will wear the number 17 at FC Bayern. The new sign opted for this squad number after considering the available options. The versatile attacking player signed with the German record champions until June 30, 2025, according to a statement on the club’s official website.
The number 17 at Bayern has been worn by, among others, the German-born of Ghanaian descent, Jerome Boateng, former captain Mark van Bommel, Christian Ziege, and Thorsten Fink.
