Sadio Mané and Matthijs De Ligt Are Not World Class Signings

Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt have amused Munich fans, but one former player isn’t happy about the moves.

The signings haven’t exactly left Michael Rummenigge, the brother of former Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, impressed.

Rummenigge, a forward who has represented Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and the German national team, believes neither player are a world-class signing, according to Goal.

Considering de Ligt, he claimed that the defender’s three years at Juventus were “lost time” in his career because the defense didn’t advance at that time.

Mané will be beneficial for the Bundesliga, although Rummenigge claimed that the former player wasn’t at the very top of his game.

Rummenigge added that if he was at his best, Jurgen Klopp would have made a bigger effort to keep him at Anfield.

Rummenigge did, however, have kind words for Noussair Mazraoui. According to TransferMarkt, the defender from Morocco joined Bayern on a free transfer from Ajax.

“He reminds me a little of the former Dortmund Achraf Hakimi, who now plays for Paris Saint-Germain. Mazraoui will help Bayern a lot on the defensive right flank.”

Mazraoui could end up being a really important transfer for Munich, he continued. He appeared in 137 games for Ajax and contributed 10 goals to the team during that period. With the team, he won two Dutch Cups and three Eredivisie championships.
