Marcelo Sets A Trophy Record In Real Madrid’s History

Real Madrid saves money in part by investing in young, bright players with the potential to become superstars.

Players fail occasionally, but most of the time they achieve their full potential, as Real Madrid’s Marcelo has done.

He joined Real Madrid at the age of 18 as a potential replacement for his countryman, Roberto Carlos, after an outstanding season with Fluminense in 2006.

Carlos was Real Madrid’s left defender from 1996 until 2007, and Marcelo has not only successfully replaced him, but has also become the club’s most decorated player.

Marcelo was tied with Paco Gento with 23 titles before Real Madrid’s game against Espanyol, but with this victory, he has become the first player in Real Madrid history to win 24 trophies.

Marcelo hasn’t played many games this season, and he’s no longer Los Blancos’ first choice at left back, thus he’s likely to go. Even if it happens, he had a successful career at Real Madrid, earning six La Liga Santander titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and five Supercopa de Espana.

He also won the Champions League four times, the UEFA Super Cup twice, and the FIFA Club World Cup four times.

He will have a chance to extend his streak if Real Madrid wins the Champions League this season. In Real Madrid, any player would find it difficult to break this record, but Benzema now has 21 titles. Marcelo, I congratulate you.
