Paul Pogba has finally broken his silence just hours after Manchester United confirmed the midfielder will be leaving the club.
The French star is set to depart Old Trafford this summer, six years after he rejoined them from Juventus for a then world-record transfer fee of £89million.
“Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of June, upon the expiry of his contract,” Man United said in a statement.
Mirror UK reports that the midfielder’s imminent departure comes at a time United are undergoing a massive rebuild under Erik ten Hag who took charge of the club as the permanent manager.
His exit was announced by Man United on Wednesday, June 1, with the club hailing Pogba for his contribution during his time at the club.
Just hours after United’s announcement, Pogba has spared some time to send the club’s fanbase a farewell message.
In a post shared on his official Instagram page, the France international expressed gratitude to fans for the support during his six-year spell with the Red Devils.
“I feel privileged to have played for this club,” Pogba wrote on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon.
“Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly an unconditional support from the fans. Thank you Manchester United,” he added.
