Mané, Goretzka & co. score as Bayern Munich beat Viktoria Köln 5-0 in DFB Pokal

Buoyed by close to 50 000 fans, FC Viktoria Köln were up for a challenge when they took on Munich in the DFB-Pokal.

Playing at FC Koln’s stadium, Viktoria Köln started the game brightly and took the fight to Bayern. They even had the ball in the net first, but it was ruled out for offside.

While Bayern had no shots on target in the first 15 minutes, they turned that around in the second 15 minutes as they registered 9 shots on target. The third 15 minutes is where they really turned up the heat as they scored twice. Bayern’s new boys Mathys Tel and Ryan Gravenberch grabbed the goals for the Bavarian giants.

It then took Bayern Munich just 14 minutes to grab a third goal as Serge Gnabry did all the hard work before teeing up Sadio Mané to tap into an empty net.

Jamal Musiala then scored ten minutes later, not long after coming on as a substitute. Musiala scored after some neat build-up play in which he was heavily involved.

Leon Goretzka then grabbed the fifth goal to round off the scoring for the Bundesliga champions.

While the scoreline didn’t reflect it, Viktoria Köln did have their moments in the game. Their keeper, Ben Voll, was the star performer, keeping the score to single digits. He even took a shot to the face in order to keep the scoreline respectable.
