According to Bild, Manchester United has received a boost by signing Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji.
They appear to be resigned to losing him this summer. The center-back has turned down a new contract extension beyond June 2023.
United have long admired Akanji and are rumored to be interested in signing him for around £25 million during the next transfer window.
Because of the sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich, they are barred from engaging in any payment-related activities. A takeover will solve the problem.
Even so, after failing to sign Sevilla’s Jules Kunde last summer, they may prioritize a move for him this summer.
Kunde had agreed on personal terms, but there had been disagreements about the transfer fee. The Blues may make another attempt to sign the Frenchman.
