Kurt Zouma, a West Ham defender, was given a community service sentence after kicking his pet cat in a viral video.
After appearing in Thames Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Wednesday, June 1, the 27-year-old defender pleaded guilty to two offenses under the Animal Welfare Act.
According to a report via Football London, Zouma was given a 12-month community service term as well as a five-year ban on owning cats.
The West Ham defender was also told to pay nearly £9,000 in court costs as the case comes to a close without jail time for the 27-year-old.
Zouma had initially been fined £250,000 by West Ham following the emergence of the case and also lost a sponsorship deal with sportswear giants, Adidas.
