Former AC Milan and Internazionale centre-forward Christian Vieiri has named Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as the ideal replacement for Sadio Mane, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield.
The former Azurri striker believes Osimhen’s qualities will fit Liverpool’s style of play, and he has urged the Reds to chase the Napoli forward.
Liverpool, the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League finalists, are concerned about the future of Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, who is rumored to be looking for a new challenge away from Anfield.
Mane’s current contract with Liverpool has one year left on it, but he has been heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. Mane has refused to comment on questions about his long-term future.
Speaking on his own Twitch channel as quoted by Yahoo Sport, the former Christian Vieiri said: “If I were Liverpool, I would go and take Osimhen from Napoli. Everyone runs in Klopp’s squad, they go a thousand miles an hour. He would be perfect.”
The 2022 AFCON champion joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 and has since won the Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup with the Merseyside club, scoring 120 goals in 269 appearances.
