Thomas Partey opened the scoring for Ghana in the 10th minute with a thunderous strike from outside the penalty box, but William Troost-Ekong equalized for the home side.
Despite several attempts by Nigeria in the second half, there was no goal to separate the two teams, and Ghana qualified on the away goal rule.
With this victory, Ghana returns to the ‘Mondial,’ which will be held between November and December this year, after missing out on the last edition, which was held in Russia in 2018.
Warm congratulations to the Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars, for their dogged display in Abuja, and qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. I am very proud of the team’s exploits. They have made the entire nation proud.
