Chelsea ‘Could Be The First Club To Bid £50m For Christopher Nkunku This summer’

Chelsea might be the first team to make a bid for Christopher Nkunku, a highly rated Frenchman.

Nkunku, 24, is projected to be one of the most sought-after players in the world this summer, as Europe’s heavyweights look to put RB Leipzig to the test.

Chelsea might be the first club to make a bid for the forward, according to French daily L’Equipe, with the west London club being long-time admirers of the player.

Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new owner, is said to be offering Thomas Tuchel a large sum of money to rebuild his squad this summer.

Following Romelu Lukaku’s much-publicized struggles this season, the club is believed to seek to strengthen their striker options.

Nkunku would be a coup for the team, having scored 20 goals and assisted 15 times in the league for RB Leipzig this season.

Tuchel expects his forwards to perform creatively, which explains why he is involved in the creative element of the game.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are unlikely to have unrestricted access to the player.

Manchester United is also thought to be interested in the player, according to L’Equipe. Newcastle, urged on by their Saudi Public Investment Fund supporters, are rumored to be interested in signing Nkunku, despite the fact that they are not currently Nkunku’s first choice destination.

Despite this, RB Leipzig is believed to have no plans to sell its greatest asset this summer, and with two years left on his current contract, it would appear that a hefty offer would be required to lure him away from the German club.

The Frenchman’s outstanding season was rounded off earlier this month by a critical equalize against Freiburg in the DFB Pokal final.

After a 1-1 draw, the game was decided on penalties, with RB Leipzig winning 4-2.

Nkunku, who has long drawn interest from Europe’s top clubs, including a return to his boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain, told media before of France’s Nations League match that the uncertainty around his future was ‘flattering.’
