Casemiro has pleaded with Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United ahead of his move to Old Trafford.
Casemiro played alongside Ronaldo during their time in Madrid and he’s hopeful of reuniting with the ‘incredible’ forward who he won a number of trophies, including four Champions League titles, alongside.
The Brazilian bid an emotional farewell to Real Madrid during a press conference on Monday morning and he was asked about Ronaldo’s situation at United.
He hailed the Portuguese star, saying: ‘I hope Cristiano stays, I want to play with him again, he’s incredible.
‘I can’t wait to play with Cristiano Ronaldo again.’
Ronaldo told the club he wanted to leave earlier this summer and missed most of pre-season, eager to exit Old Trafford for a team in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Casemiro hit back at those claiming he’s moving to Old Trafford for financial gain, insisting if that was the case, he would’ve left Real many years ago.
‘Leaving for money? People who say this clearly don’t know me. They’re wrong. If it was for money I would have left 4 years ago,’ he said.
Casemiro is expected to be one of the highest earners at the club alongside David De Gea, with a reported £375,000- per-week contract.
He will now fly out to Manchester to be welcomed by United supporters later in the evening when they host Liverpool.
United fans will be relieved that their search for a defensive midfielder is finally complete, and hoping he can make his debut as soon as possible.
The Red Devils currently sit 19th in the Premier League and will be gunning for their first points of the season against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
