Manchester City is the latest club to unveil a player’s statue, as the club honored former striker Sergio Aguero with an impressive monument located at the Etihad Stadium.
These amazing stars had an astounding career and won so many trophies. Some played (or still play) in England, Spain, Italy, and even America.
Let’s look at the best 4 statues in football history:
The statue depicts Aguero’s ecstatic celebration after netting the winner against Queens Park Rangers to lead Manchester City to their first ever Premier League title.
Aguero may have enjoyed the ceremony, with his statue being admittedly stunning, but there are other players who may not have been happy with the end result.
- Sir Alex Ferguson, Old Trafford
His bronze statue was unveiled by his wife Lady Cathy in 2012 when Manchester United celebrated his 25 years at the Red Devils.
Sculpted by Algerian artist Adel Abdesseme, the statue was unveiled back in 2012 outside the Pompidou Centre in Paris. It depicts Zinedine Zidane’s famous headbutt on Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final.
It is one of the most impressive football statues ever scuttled. Inspired by the original monument of Alexander Rukavishnikov, Yashin’s statue is located at the Petrovsky Park, in Moscow.
