10 Players Who Died On The Playing Field In Football History

In 2007, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) proposed mandatory cardiac testing, which has been in place in several nations for years, such as Italy, in response to an increase in deaths during matches and training. 

This is a list of 10 football players who died for various reasons, such as cardiac arrest, and occasionally unknown reasons, as reported in the media. 

On August 28, 2007, three days after participating in a league match between Sevilla and Getafe, the Sevilla footballer died. He passed out during the game and had to be replaced.

Despite the fact that he regained consciousness and was able to walk off the pitch on his own, he lost consciousness again in the locker room and died in the hospital from postanoxic encephalopathy.

Feher died on January 25, 2004, while playing for Benfica versus Vitoria de Guimaraes, at the age of 24. Feher slumped on the field after beginning to walk slowly and attempting to continue playing. A pulmonary embolism claimed his life.

Foe died in a game against Columbia in France on the 26th of June 2003, while playing Cameroon. He collapsed on the pitch unexpectedly owing to a heart attack caused by inflammation of the right ventricle.

Morosini died on April 14, 2012, during a game between Livorno and Pescara, after having a heart attack. Morosini was rushed to the hospital in a severe condition, but doctors were unable to save his life.

During a match between Celta Vigo and Malaga, he was kicked in the head. The keeper recovered without difficulty, but the bang caused him to fall into a coma 17 days later. He died a week later, on January 8, 1988.

He died on October 28th, 2002, just a few days after playing for Deportivo Wanka against Alianza Lima.

Marcio, in fact, scored the game-winning goal for his club. He wasn’t feeling well prior to the game, and his doctor recommended headache medication. Finally, after suffering a heart attack, he died in the club hotel.

Pamic suffered a heart attack on June 22, 2013, while playing a friendly against NK Istra in Maruzni.

He had a long history of heart difficulties, and this wasn’t the first time he’d passed out on the field, but the doctors allowed him to continue playing. On this occasion, though, he was unable to continue and died.

On the 19th of October 2014, the 23-year-old midfielder for Bethlehem Vengthlang in India died after suffering major injury to his dorsal spine while attempting to celebrate a goal with a backflip.

On the 24th of May 2015, the 27-year-old footballer died after falling and passing away during a game while playing for Atletico Parana versus Boca Unidos.

Serhiy Perkhun, a goalie for CSKA Moscow, died ten days after going into a coma on August 29th, 2001, after receiving a major head injury after colliding with a rival player during a game in the Russian league.
